A "lighter" design
On this project, our client's new summer home
will get a "lighter" and more cohesive feeling
while mixing in some of their antiques
and other pieces they already have.
Our challenge was to blend the existing floor tile
and the Tudor-like posts and beams
throughout most of the house into a
gentle mix with the rest of the interior.
...and our proposed design!
We recommended painting all or most
of the beams the same color as the walls
and "color drenching" the trim work
to eliminate the contrast your eye may be drawn to
and to give a wash of light to the walls and ceiling.
Color is used in the furnishings and case goods
to harmonize with the tile and pull it all together.
In the fabrics, patterns are mixed with tactile textures
reflecting the homeowner's love of Maine heritage details
and the natural coastal environment.
We're excited how the design phase
has turned out on this project!
We'll follow up... stay tuned!
