Color, Texture, Pattern, and Personality
This was a renovation project
on an existing bungalow
our clients had lived in
for several decades.
With a new use of living space,
the homeowners ended up with a new entry,
a sitting area for entertaining,
a wonderful new kitchen
with a backyard view,
and a large main bedroom
ensuite as well!
From the beginning,
we get to know our clients
and the things they love...
what comfort means to you,
what colors you prefer,
how you like to live in your home...
and help you along to make sure
your personality comes through the design
and surrounds you in your home!
With our client on this project,
we learned the spaces needed to feel
unexpected but calming,
playful and spontaneous yet soothing,
and all with a juxtaposition of
simple versus bold.
And this client has a love of color!
Along with the thoughtful use of it
from room to room,
we also incorporated texture and pattern
with a mix of materials including
metals, woods, glass, and ceramic.
We integrated their personal collection of art,
family antiques, and beautiful houseplants
including a Thanksgiving cactus
that's multiple generations old!
And we can't forget, all of of it is dog friendly
and most of all comfortable!
There's an interesting mix of
mid-century modern style
with industrial and rustic antiques...
colorful rugs, walls, and fabrics...
and window treatments that are both
functional and aesthetically pleasing!
Blended all together,
they create an inviting space that feels
unexpected and fun!

we work through all the space planning
and keep an eye out for updates along the way
